Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information ChiliTalks ("we", "us") handles when you use ChiliTalks, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we don't ask who you are, and we don't record your chats.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
- You do not need an account, so we do not ask for your name, email, phone number or date of birth.
- We do not record or store your video or audio.
- We do not store the content of your text messages.
2. Information We Handle
Connection data
When you start a chat, our servers receive your IP address, browser type and basic connection data. We use it to match you with another user, to set up the call, and to prevent abuse.
Video, audio and text chat
Video and audio connect directly between you and your chat partner using WebRTC and are encrypted in transit. If a direct connection is not possible (for example, because of a strict firewall), the encrypted stream may pass through a relay (TURN) server, which may be operated by a third-party provider. Text messages pass through our server in real time to reach your partner and are not saved. As part of the peer-to-peer connection, your chat partner’s browser can see your IP address, just as yours can see theirs.
Reports
If you or another user submits a report, we store the reason, the time, and a one-way hashed identifier derived from the IP addresses of the people involved. We use this to block repeat offenders and to review abuse. Report records are automatically deleted after 90 days unless we need them longer to comply with the law.
Device storage
We save your 18+ confirmation in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask every time. You can clear it in your browser settings.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads to measure whether our ads lead people to start a chat. These services may set cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, device and approximate location. You can control ad personalization at adssettings.google.com and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Learn more in how Google uses data from partner sites.
3. How We Use Information
- To run the Service: matching, call setup and message relay.
- To keep the Service safe: handling reports, blocking abusers and preventing fraud.
- To improve the Service and measure our marketing.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (such as hosting, relay servers and Google Analytics/Ads), and with law enforcement or authorities when required by law or to protect someone’s safety. Under California law, using advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising; see your choices below.
5. Children
ChiliTalks is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us immediately.
6. Your Privacy Rights (including California)
Depending on where you live, including California under the CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Because we don’t have accounts, most data we hold cannot be linked to you, but we will help where we can. Email support@chilitalks.com to make a request. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of sharing, and we will not discriminate against you for using your rights.
7. Data Retention and Security
Connection data is kept only as long as needed to run the Service and prevent abuse. Report records are deleted after 90 days. We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, but no online service can be 100% secure.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date above when we do.
